As a child Antony accompanied his parents, Lee Miller and Roland Penrose on their many visits to Picasso’s homes in the South of France. He was allowed to wander freely, playing with Picasso’s children, the menagerie of pets and fabulous collection of art works, gaining a unique insight into the man many regard as the greatest artist of all times. Using photographs by Lee Miller, Roland Penrose and a few of his own, Antony takes us on a visit to Picasso’s homes and studios of Villa la Galloise, Mougins, Villa la Californie, Cannes, Chateau Vauvenargues, and Notre Dame de Vie in Mougins, where he died in 1973. We also visit his Paris studio in Rue des Grands Augustins where Lee Miller photographed him on the first day of the liberation of Paris.

According to one theory, however, the farm existed in Revolutionary days. It is know that after the Battle of Trenton, Hessians were taken as prisoners to the . From there, they were issued to various farmers in the area as workers. These Hessians may have erected the enormous stone barn at the Bunker Hill Farm because its construction resembles the old Hessian guardhouse at the Army Post. One side of the stone barn still stands on the Camp Michaux grounds.
I stumbled onto your web page over the weekend and was most interested in your information on Camp Michaux. I, too, was a delegate to the Youth Leadership Conference and remember a wonderful week there in August, 1969. The name Dick Sigler seemed very familiar, though I don't remember a lot about him. Some things I do remember: Sleeping in the old P.O.W. barracks. Skits under the pavilion on Saturday night. A girl from North Warren who played guitar and sang "Leaving on a Jet Plane." Volleyball games after supper pitting Presbytery against Presbytery.
I represented Second Presbyterian Church in Oil City and we didn't have a pastor at that time, so I knew virtually no one before going. I rode down with a pastor from named Claude Ponting. For some reason, he couldn't give me a ride home, so I came back with Jack Larson. (whom we kids called the "sinister minister") Jack was at the Cambridge Springs church and later went to Carlisle. I got to know him much better in the year to come through meetings of the Youth Task Force.
I got to know the girl who played guitar as well, and ended up taking her to my senior prom in May, 1970. We both attended and after we graduated, we got together on occasion, she driving up to Williamsport, where I was teaching math, or I driving down to Carlisle where she got a job teaching German. On one of the Carlisle visits, we drove out to the camp, which I was surprised to find no longer existed. This was probably in 1976. Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Sincerely, G. K.

New American Crystal Leadership — The American Crystal Sugar Company board has a new chairman. Fisher, Minnesota grower Curt Knutson succeeds Robert Green of St. Thomas, North Dakota. Cummings, North Dakota grower David Mueller will be vice-chairman. Green spoke at Thursday's meeting, saying sugarbeets have a bright future ahead. “I think we have all of the resources in place to find advances, if there are any left out there, because of the way we conduct research. The investment the sugarbeet seed companies make in the new genetics, they have kept us in business," said Green. "We’ve absorbed the cost of inflation for close to 40 years. It’s been improvements on the farm and our factories that have kept us in business.” Sugarbeet growers John Brainard and Brian Erickson wrapped up their terms on the board. The new additions to the board are Cindy Pulskamp from Hillsboro, North Dakota, Ernie Dusek of Grafton, North Dakota and Mark Nelson, who farms near Oslo, Minnesota.
